Meet Ronna

MSW, LICSW, Owner

I have been a therapist for over 10 years. I believe that in order to truly be well, we need to make the effort to create the changes we desire.

I grew up in the Alexandria area, graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in 2003 and went on to Minnesota State University, Mankato where I received my undergraduate (2006) and graduate degree (2009). I have my Masters in Social Work and am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. Alexandria has always been home to me, as I love the lakes area and the seasons Minnesota has to offer.

My husband and I have been married since 2017 and we have 2 young children. As a family we love being at our lake cabin in the summer for boating, swimming, watching sunsets around the campfire or relaxing on the patio. I am an athlete at heart and enjoy being as active as I can.

As a therapist, I love the therapy process and seeing clients find their way to success. Helping individuals find their worth, making the changes they seek and knowing they are capable, is invaluable.

I love working with...

Whether you are dealing with life stressors, depression, anxiety, major life changes or wanting to focus on your wellness - I love helping you get back to feeling like yourself, knowing your worth, and OWNING your story - because it's beautiful.

Those struggling with anxiety or depression

These can be overwhelming emotions, that keep you feeling stuck, gaining new strategies could be just the breakthrough you need.

Self Development and Leadership

Wanting to learn, grow and live more intentionally. Therapy can be a process that allows you to take charge and capitalize on the change you desire.

Kids ages 8 and up

Their innocence and compassion for others always reminds me to see the world from their perspective. They may just need guidance to manage the stressors around them.

First Responders

You see a lot on the job. We will walk through and process work and life-related complexities related to these roles.

Young adults

You bring so much energy and excitement, the potential for growth is limitless, but life can be hard and overwhelming.

Moms

Your world has changed and you were told it would, but you never imagined it would be like this and you are needing support.

I'll be the right fit for you if...

You are willing and ready to take ownership  and commitment to create change in your own life. You will need to be invested in the process for the changes we discover to make an impact. Without commitment, your investment won't reap the rewards you're looking to achieve.

My Approach

I believe we all have kinetic energy, the energy which a body possesses by being in motion. With the energy within us, we choose to use that energy in someway - we are in motion. Sometimes that motion is not going in the direction we desire, leaving us feeling bogged down, tired, overwhelmed, exhausted and at times, hopeless. When we reinvest time towards ourselves and challenge to live, learn and grow differently - apply our kinetic energy differently - we can begin the forward motion toward our goals - whatever they may be.

I take a client centered approach to therapy, meeting you where you are at, but emphasizing cognitive behavioral strategies. I believe that we need to understand ourselves and our own self limiting beliefs. Once we have the knowledge about these beliefs we can begin challenging the unhealthy thinking patterns that drive our behavior and relationships. This is hard work, this takes effort, but it is so worth the growth and change that happens in the process.

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do."

-Brene Brown

Client Experiences

"Ronna has been extremely helpful with my growth as an individual. I was recommended to her to complete brainspotting as an intervention for some underlying trauma.. and let me tell you, if you’ve never done this type of therapy.. I HIGHLY recommend. It’s very different than your traditional “talk therapy” and Ronna is the most compassionate person to allow yourself to process and ugly cry in front of. She utilizes and helps you understand current psychology process as well as implements faith and spiritual based beliefs. I am so grateful Ronna came into my life, thank you! "

"Our minor child has been having sessions with Ronna for several years. While medication has been very helpful, it does not work in a vacuum. Having Ronna as an additional source of support for our child and as someone to listen and offer suggestions (it really helps that they are from someone other than mom and dad) has been a powerful tool in the toolbox to build success. The positive changes have been truly remarkable. Ronna has worked with our child to be involved in school, have a more positive world view and to be better able to be a self advocate. Our child will be away from home before we know it and we have every confidence that our child will be able to manage the depression and anxiety, in no small part because of the wonderful assistance received from Ronna."

"Amazing! And a word that is how I would describe my experience with Ronna. I met with her about six months—-Each time we focused on what my issues were and slowly and steadily resolve them. I couldn’t have asked for a kinder yet more clear therapist."
